Counseling Philosophy

“Shirlene is appreciated for her genuine unconditional regard for her clients and she believes that a safe respectful therapeutic environment is the most important factor in therapy. She has a big heart for helping individuals and families heal.”

Thanks for stopping by to take a look at my approach to therapy. It takes a lot of courage to reach out and take the initial steps to begin counseling. I respect and honor the courage that it takes.  My clinical practice provides clinical counseling for individuals, couples, and families with a focus on transforming emotional trauma, troubled relationships, lingering grief, and regret into more peaceful lifestyles and families. My theoretical approach is grounded in Adlerian Psychology, a holistic approach to identifying barriers to successful lifestyles and families and utilizing the appropriate evidence-based approaches which meet your specific needs. Some of the theories and approaches I use in clinical practice include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt Theory, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for acquiring skills and obtaining trauma/grief recovery. I utilize The Gottman Method for Couples Therapy and IMAGO theory. If you would like to begin counseling, you can contact me, Shirlene Elledge, to set up your first appointment and start your journey to healing.
